A sprawling tiger reserve nestled in the Shivalik ranges, encompassing Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun.
Rajaji National Park (now Rajaji Tiger Reserve) is famous for its large population of Asian Elephants. Covering an area of approx 820 sq. km, it is a biodiversity hotspot located at the foothills of the Himalayas. The park is a fusion of three sanctuaries: Chilla, Motichur, and Rajaji.
The terrain is diverse, featuring broadleaf deciduous forests, riverine vegetation, scrublands, and grassy meadows. The majestic Ganges River flows through the park, adding to its scenic beauty. Apart from herds of elephants, the park is home to Tigers, Leopards, Goral, Spotted Deer, and over 300 species of birds.
The Chilla Range is the most popular zone for jeep safaris, offering high chances of spotting wild elephants and other fauna. Its proximity to Haridwar and Rishikesh makes it a perfect weekend getaway for nature lovers.
