Explore Maharashtra's oldest and largest national park, globally renowned for its exceptionally high tiger density and thrilling wildlife safaris.
Located in the Chandrapur district, the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is one of India's premier Project Tiger reserves. It has earned a stellar reputation as one of the best places in the world to photograph and observe Royal Bengal Tigers in the wild, boasting an incredibly high probability of big cat sightings on a daily basis.
The vast expanse of the park is systematically divided into three main forest ranges for a well-rounded Maharashtra tiger safari experience:
At the heart of the reserve lies the beautiful Tadoba Lake, which acts as a crucial buffer between the core forest and the farming lands extending to the extensive Irai water reservoir. This perennial water source is the ultimate lifeline for the park's rich biodiversity.
A Tadoba jungle safari takes you through dramatic landscapes of dry deciduous forests and thick bamboo groves—creating a highly photogenic backdrop. The park is famous for its legendary, widely documented tigers (such as the iconic Maya, Matkasur, and Bajrang), whose captivating stories continue to draw wildlife photographers from across the globe.
Beyond the majestic tigers, the reserve is teeming with diverse fauna. Visitors have an excellent chance to spot:
