A miraculous landscape where leopards roam freely among human settlements.
Jawai Leopard Reserve, located near Bera in the Pali district of Rajasthan, is not a typical jungle. It is a unique landscape defined by ancient granite rock formations, the expansive Jawai Bandh (Dam), and a thriving population of leopards that coexist peacefully with the local Rabari herdsmen.
Unlike dense forests where sightings can be elusive, the open granite hills of Jawai offer some of the best leopard sightings in the world. Visitors can often spot these majestic cats lounging on cave ledges or the steps of temples in broad daylight.
The Jawai Dam is also a haven for migratory birds, including Flamingos, Sarus Cranes, and Bar-headed Geese, as well as being home to one of the largest populations of crocodiles in Rajasthan. A safari here is a blend of rugged adventure, cultural immersion with the Rabari tribe, and exceptional wildlife photography.
