A pristine wilderness nestled between the Gola and Sarda rivers in the Terai Arc Landscape.
Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 2012, is located in the Nainital and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand. It lies within the renowned Terai Arc Landscape, acting as a crucial corridor for tigers moving between Nepal and India's Brahmadev and Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserves.
This offbeat sanctuary is characterized by dense Sal forests, riverine belts, and rolling hills. It is home to a growing population of Royal Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, Sloth Bears, and Flying Squirrels. The sanctuary also boasts a rich avian population, making it a delight for birdwatchers.
Unlike the crowded Corbett, Nandhaur offers a raw and undisturbed jungle experience. The safari trails take you deep into the heart of the forest, offering a chance to witness nature in its purest form. The region is also famous for the Mahseer fish found in its river systems.
