Rajasthan's third tiger reserve, offering a blend of dense forests and river ecosystems.
Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve is located in the Hadoti region of Rajasthan, spanning across the districts of Kota, Bundi, Chittorgarh, and Jhalawar. Established in 2013, it encompasses three wildlife sanctuaries: Darrah, Jawahar Sagar, and Chambal.
The reserve is named after the Mukundra ranges and is characterized by thick dry deciduous forests and rolling hills. The magnificent Chambal River flows through the reserve, creating deep gorges and supporting aquatic life like the Gharial and Mugger crocodile.
Historically a royal hunting ground for the Maharajas of Kota, today it is a protected habitat for Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, and Wolves. The varied topography, from the plateau tops to the river valleys, makes jeep safaris here a scenic and adventurous experience.
