A unique tiger habitat in Alwar, nestled in the ancient Aravalli mountains.
Sariska Tiger Reserve is famous for being the first reserve in the world to successfully relocate tigers (from Ranthambore). Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, it is spread over 866 sq. km of scrub-thorn arid forests, dry deciduous woods, and rocky hills.
Besides the Royal Bengal Tiger, Sariska is home to a large population of Leopards, Hyenas, Jackals, and Jungle Cats. It is also a birdwatcher's delight with numerous species like the Peafowl, Grey Partridge, and Sandgrouse.
The reserve is rich in history, housing the 17th-century Kankwari Fort (where Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh) and the ancient Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. The Pandupol Hanuman Temple located deep inside the forest is a major attraction, drawing pilgrims on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
