A UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty.
Valley of Flowers National Park is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Nestled high in the West Himalayas, it is renowned for its diverse alpine flora, including the famous Brahma Kamal, Blue Poppy, and Cobra Lily. The valley changes its colors every few weeks as different species bloom, creating a fairy-tale landscape.
The park is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Brown Bear, and Blue Sheep. The Pushpawati River flows through the valley, adding to the picturesque scenery set against the backdrop of snow-clad Zanskar ranges.
The trek starts from Govindghat, leading to Ghangaria (the base camp), and finally to the valley. It is a strict eco-zone where overnight stay is not permitted; visitors must enter and exit on the same day.
