The reserve is highly accessible from Nagpur, which acts as the primary transit hub. Whether you are planning your journey by flight, train, or road, reaching Pench is smooth and well-connected.

1. Reaching Pench by Air

Flying is the quickest way to reach Pench National Park, especially for travelers visiting from distant cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Kolkata.

• Nagpur Airport (Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport): Located approximately 130 km from Pench National Park. It is the closest airport with daily direct flights from major Indian metros. From Nagpur, the drive to Pench takes about 2.5 to 3 hours via the NH-44 highway.
• Jabalpur Airport (Dumna Airport): Situated about 200 km from the national park. It offers decent connectivity with key domestic destinations. The road journey from Jabalpur to Pench takes around 4 to 4.5 hours.

2. Reaching Pench by Rail

Indian Railways operates several direct trains connecting the nearest junctions to different parts of the country.

• Nagpur Junction (NGP): Located 130 km away, Nagpur is a major railway hub with excellent connectivity across North, South, East, and West India. Taxis and local buses are easily available outside the station.
• Jabalpur Railway Station (JBP): Situated around 200 km away, this is a suitable option for travelers coming via central and northern railway routes.
• Chhindwara Junction (CWA): Located closer to the Chhindwara gates of Pench (around 110 km), though train options are relatively limited compared to Nagpur.

3. Reaching Pench by Road

Pench Tiger Reserve is positioned directly along the National Highway 44 (NH-44), making it highly accessible for road trips and bus travel.

• From Nagpur: The 130 km route follows the well-maintained 4-lane NH-44 towards Jabalpur. You will cross the Khawasa border check-post to reach the popular Madhya Pradesh gates (like Turia or Karmajhiri).
• From Jabalpur: A direct drive of 200 km southward via NH-44 takes you straight to the reserve's northern entry gates.
• From Raipur: Approximately 300 km via NH-53 and NH-44. The drive takes around 5.5 to 6 hours.

4. Crucial Tip: Match Your Gates with Your Transit Route

Pench National Park operates multiple entry gates across two states. Always verify which gate your safari permit is issued for before planning your local pick-up or hotel location:

• Madhya Pradesh Gates (Turia, Karmajhiri, Jamtara): Best accessed by taking NH-44 and exiting at the Khawasa junction.
• Maharashtra Gates (Sillari, Chokhara): Located closer to Nagpur and easily accessed via the Pauni/Sillari route, without needing to cross deep into the MP border.
