India's 52nd Tiger Reserve, a crucial link in the Rajasthan wildife circuit.
Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve (RVTR), located in the Bundi district, was declared a tiger reserve in 2021. It holds immense ecological importance as it acts as a critical corridor connecting the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast to the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in the south.
The reserve spans over 1,501 sq. km and is defined by rugged Vindhyan ranges, dry deciduous forests, and the perennial Mez River, a tributary of the Chambal. This river system supports the rich flora and fauna of the region, making it an excellent habitat for predators and prey alike.
Apart from the Bengal Tiger, the reserve is home to Leopards, Sloth Bears, Golden Jackals, Chinkaras, and Nilgai. The sanctuary also encircles the historic Ramgarh Palace, adding a touch of heritage to the wilderness. Its relatively new status means fewer crowds and a raw, unexplored jungle experience.
